Oak

Welcome to Oak Class.

We are a mixed Year 4/5 class.

Our Class Teacher is Mr Giles.

Our PE day is Wednesday.

Global Neighbours - Values afternoon

Today, we looked at our global neighbours in Paraguay who were suffering from the creation of a large landfill site within their towns and cities. We explored how landfill sites are bad for the environment and the alternative solutions that can be available with enough funding and commitment to protecting  the environment, for example eco-friendly incinerators and recycling plants.

We then took a closer look at the containers that we had been asked to bring in and thought about their need. Do we really need all this plastic for...? Could this company have used cardboard instead of plastic?

Finally, we looked and the Landfill harmonic from Paraguay who have recycled rubbish into musical instruments and played concerts around the world to raise awareness of their problems with waste.

The children loved being creative with the materials available and made a selection of percussion and strung instruments.

The children enjoyed learning about the planets and how they move in the solar system.

Oak class visited the church today for our Religion and World Views lesson. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the church and learning about baptism. Thank you Reverend Paul!
