Birch
Birch Class 2016/17
Welcome to our class page! We are a Year 3 and Year 4 class and our teachers are Mr Benjafield, Mrs Goodwin and Mr Nelson. We hope you enjoy sharing our news.
France
Our topic this term is France. We have been learning to speak french and we enjoyed a delicious french breakfast of: croissant, pain au chocolat, brie and baguettes. We also have learnt how to play boule which is a traditional french game.
Magdalen Farm
Birch Class enjoyed a fantastic day out at Magdalen Farm. The children were able to take part in pond dipping, bug hunting and also viewed bees making honey and the farm goats which are kept to make cheese.
PE
This term we are working on gymnastics. We have been practising movement, balance and stability skills and then putting this into a routine.
Pirate Topic
As part of our Pirate Topic we used atlases to find out where the continents and oceans used by pirates in the 17th and 18th Century were.
Intra Sports
Each term we have the opportunity to take part in an Intra School Sports competition. Birch class are earning points for their house teams playing tag rugby.
In the background of some of the photos you can see our new classrooms starting to be built.
David and Goliath
We were lucky to have a theatre company visit the school. They worked with each class re-enacting the story of David and Goliath. We all found the budding thespian inside us!!
Pirate Day
As a wow starter for our topic we enjoyed a Pirate Day. We dressed up in our best pirate gear and spent the day learning how to tie knots, tasting food, learning a pirate shanty and taking part in a treasure hunt. 'Yo, ho me hearties!!'
