On Thursday, we had a STEM lesson where we learnt about gliders and even designed our own. We are hoping to test out our designs, and we will hopefully get the chance to make them!

Religion and World Views lesson - Lion King!

In our religions and world view lesson this week (Tuesday 11th March), we had a look at the clip from the Lion King where Mufasa dies. We reflected on what we believe happens after death, to our spirit and our body. We then learnt about what other religions believe.

Friday 7th March - Today we all came to school in our pyjamas!

Science experiment - light

On Thursday 7th March, we carried out a science experiment. This was to see how light travels.

World Book Day 2025

Thursday 6th March.

Today we are celebrating World Book Day. We have come as either a Mr Men or Little Miss character, or invented our own! I wonder who you can spot from the stories in these pictures?

Class worship

On Wednesday 5th March, Josh (worship team member) lead our class worship. It was a great class debate about feeling proud and celebrating our differences - some of the questions we visited today are below.

Chloe linked this to Ukraine, and people who have to seek refuge in other countries.

Thank you Josh for leading us in our relfections today.

Seated volleyball

Friday 28th February

Today we were introduced to our new unit in PE - seated balance and floor work. We learnt to use these skills effectively in our game of seated volleyball. At the end of the session, we had a reflective moment and a self evaluation on our skills today.

Worship team delivering class worships

Our worship team have started to deliver class worships. They delivered a Worship to Willow class on Wednesday and they had a great class discussion about how appearances affect our judgements.

Dodgeball!

This half term we are starting our next PE unit, within which we are looking at stance and footwork. Every week, we will play a game of dodgeball to put our skills into good use. Our first PE session was a fantastic start, and we saw lots of wonderful team skills.

Where in the world are we?

Today we used OS maps to look at different parts of the UK. We also reminded ourselves of our village, town, county and country. We had a OS map symbol finding activity.

Circuits in science lessons!

In Science this week (Week 1, Spring A), we have been building circuits. We built a range of circuits using bulbs, motors and switches.

Wellbeing week

During wellbeing week, we have been thinking about how we can be generous this Christmas. We have created a generosity tree whilst we thought of ideas and ways that we could be generous with our time. We also had a visit from the wellbeing champions who sang us a Christmas song. It was a real treat - thank you to Mrs Hill and the wellbeing champions!

Christmas party

We had a fantastic Christmas party with Maple class. We had a party room, an 'elf-ie' room and a games room. Please enjoy the photos! There was lots of dancing, laughter and fun. We also had squash and biscuits!

Netball stars!

On Thursday 12th December, year 6's had a netball tournament across the teams. They were fantastic at putting their skills, that they had gained over the past 7 weeks, to great use.

Hillfort historians

On Wednesday 11th January, we visited the hillfort as part of our history unit based on the stone age to the iron age. We identified the key parts of the hillfort which made it a fantastic resource for the iron age tribes to protect them from the enemy attacking. Parents and carers, encourage your children to take you on a tour of the hillfort and allow them to share their knowledge!

SEW cool!

Willow class have been sewing their pieces of fabric together today to make their stuffed fish.

History outside!

Willow class spent a whole History lesson outside this week. They learnt about why hillforts were built and how they were built. They did this through play and exploration. We began the lesson by playing a game of tag, with 2 colour teams against the other 2 colour teams. We then changed the game so that one team were at a height advantage. From this, the teams could identify why hillforts were built. We then went to the forest school area and built our own model versions of hillforts. We thought about how they could be built.

DT

In Willow class, we are currently designing and making our own stuffed fish. We have chosen fish as our stuffed animal as it links with our learning within science. We are looking specifically at how to sew a blanket stitch. It is very tricky but we are showing perseverance with our learning!

Here is a photo of our class remembrance display. Today we took part in a whole school 2 minute silence on the playground.
