Acorns have been creative by using sticks they found in the forest to creative their own Stickman which has aligned beautifully with their book of the week; Stickman by Julia Donaldson
We have combined nature exploration with imaginative play, exploring emotions, seasons as well as continuing to develop their fine motor skill.

The magic of autumn is here - crisp leaves underfoot, pockets full of conkers, acorns and pinecones as well as endless opportunities to inspire our play. These little autumn treasures are sparking so much curiosity and joy in Preschool this term.
We have used:
🌿 Conkers as “cakes” for a tea party and in our water play. Will they float or sink?
🌿 Sorting, weighing, and comparing sizes in our maths play
🌿 Creating natural art with autumn leaves, twigs, and feathers
🌿 Added conkers to our small-world and role-play set ups for endless creativity
It’s such a beautiful reminder that we don’t always need to buy new resources - nature provides everything we need to inspire play and learning.

Acorns had so much fun making their own natural-dyed playdough! They went on a nature walk to gather ingredients from our forest area, then followed a recipe to make their very own Blackberry playdough.
This was perfect for the children's fine motor development; picking, mashing, mixing, kneading and that was all before we got to play with it.
