Welcome to Birch Class

We are a Year 4 class.

Mrs Williams teaches Birch Class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mr Smith teaches the class on Thursday and Friday.

Mrs Drury supports learning in Birch Class throughout the week.

We look forward to a busy and exciting year of learning together!

Homework

Homework is set each Friday.

Children will be given a weekly list of spellings to practise at home. These spellings can be accessed through Spelling Shed, and all children have their own login details.

We also ask that children regularly practise their times tables using TT Rock Stars. If you would prefer your child to practise offline, please let Mr Smith or Mrs Williams know and we will be happy to provide an alternative.

Reading

We encourage children to read as often as possible at home and record their reading in their Reading Record. Regular reading, even for a short amount of time each day, can have a significant impact on children's confidence, fluency and understanding. Please aim to listen to your child read and sign their Reading Record whenever possible.

Thank you for your support with home learning.

English - Potion Making!

We have been learning a Talk 4 Writing text George's Marvellous Concoction . To introduce the unit and get our imaginations flowing, we created our own magical potions! We mixed a variety of ingredients, described their effects and used our creativity to invent some truly marvellous concoctions.

Music Lessons with Mr Clark

Each Friday afternoon, Mr Clark visits our classroom to teach us how to play the ukulele. We have been learning new chords and strumming patterns, and we are becoming more confident musicians with every lesson. We really enjoy making music together and practising our new skills.
